R&D Insights: The Hotel Experience
We are already head deep in finding the physical language of The Hotel Experience, seeking out some explosive physicality and investing in detail through capturing the gestures of people living and moving around a hotel; keys in doors, weighty luggage, calling room service. And as always the Lîla's are tumbling, falling and flying around the place.
We are also interested in the way we behave, the seen and unseen behaviour of being 'ourselves' in The Hotel. As we venture into partnership work this week, it this fine line that we intend to venture along and tread either side of... bringing forward the question of private and public ...intimacy, arguments the mundane, superficial and significant.
With the mock set we are wondering how the structures can not only house the dancers and bring the energy to a boiling point but also how our dancers spill out across the space and take our wheelie set structures with them. We are loving the possibility of our rotating set - spinning the perspective of the viewer without them moving a muscle.
Thanks to The Point for having us, we are also loving the energy of everyone taking our morning classes as part of Elevate summer school :)
