KJ Mortimer joins The Deluge cast
What's it been like learning your new role in the deluge?
It's been wonderful, I've loved every second of it, it's been really-really fun. And lots of hard work, but really-really fun. The cast is just brilliant, all the directors are lovely, and obviously the technicians and the musician is amazing.
What has been the hardest thing?
The hardest thing is remembering what you're doing when you're not dancing, because The Deluge is an immersive work, lots of things are happening when you're on stage but technically ‘off stage’, so I'm not dancing but I'm still lighting or I'm moving props, and I'm still with the audience. So thinking about what you're doing in between the sections when you are not dancing - it's quite hard to remember what to do!
What's your favourite bit of the show?
That's hard to say, I actually really like the end. I do a solo, Lancashire, which is lots of my family talking, and lots of my little cousin talking, so it's really nice for me to have a personal connection with that. And then into the deluge which is a very big dance section, and all the show is building up to this one moment, and I think that's really satisfying when we all get there together, and it feels very rich with qualities and characters and feelings, And I think that's very special.
