My Bit (2020)
My Bit is our new outdoor work. A duet with dual casts. One show, two versions -
Meet Claire and Jon. Claire is French, she talks to her Father every day. Jon is British, his Gran has a view on everything. Jon has a terrible French accent. Claire and Jon are figuring out their bit. Their differences, their passions, their similarities and their shared love of Dirty Dancing.
Meet Michael and Luca. Luca is Italian and a self proclaimed citizen of the world. Michael is British, his Mum loves her garden. Michael has a terrible Italian accent. Michael and Luca are figuring out their bit. Their differences, their passions, their similarities and their shared love of Dirty Dancing.
In a world full of uncertainty and opinions, how do they hold on to what is important to them whilst still looking after themselves and each other? My Bit is a diverse outdoor duet that explores relevant issues about space, borders and ownership in post-Brexit Britain.
Created from a wealth of interviews, My Bit uses global stories to understand what it is to live in someone else's shoes to build a better bit. Using a smorgasbord of accents, languages, music and voices it explores stereotypical thinking, dismantling broadly held social views on issues such as class, wealth, sexual orientation and immigration through personal stories and spaghetti arms.
